Dangerous vulnerability in Adobe products

Experts from the several companies specialising on questions of computer security, warn about frequent cases of attacks through a “hole” in software products of Adobe Systems.

The vulnerability theoretically allows to take a complete control over the computer of a victim. For attack implementation it is necessary to force user to open the file generated in special way created with application of the standard of compression JBIG.

Adobe has confirmed the fact of existence of the “hole” last week, however independent experts say that the first exploits have appeared in the beginning of January. The vulnerability is present at Adobe Reader and Acrobat of the ninth and earlier versions.
While attacks through the vulnerability have limited character, however their quantity increases every day. The official patch for “hole” does not exist now; Adobe promises to release it by March, 11th. Experts recommend users not to open the files received from unknown or unreliable sources in Adobe applications.
