Websense Security Labs experts have detected mass dispatches of messages in which malefactors suggest users to visit a certain web site and to see a card with congratulations by a St. Valentine’s Day. If the user agrees to pass the link, the image of two puppies and heart will be shown. After that the potential victim is recommended to download a certain file and to prepare a gift to a sweetheart. Actually the file appears malware program Waledac: having got on the computer, the worm collects e-mail addresses and dispatches on them the copies.
Swindlers also actively extend a spam with the links ostensibly specifying directly on congratulatory cards. Transition under such links “is remunerated” by portion of espionage modules and Trojan programs. Traditionally in similar cases experts recommend to users not to open an investment if the letter has come from the unknown address, not to pass under suspicious links and to apply anti-virus programs with regularly updated databases.
